The capital of the island, situated in the south east, Zakynthos town boasts a large harbour which caters for ferries and cruise ships on a daily basis. The international airport of Zante is just 4 kms away.

To cater for an ever increasing number of visitors, however, a new arrivals terminal was opened in June 2005, with a new departures terminal planned in the near future.
